Barcelona, Spain — Today, Thursday morning, as a part of the “One Team - One People” initiative, the Center for Jewish Impact with partners from Maccabi Tel Aviv Basketball and the World Zionist Organization’s Israel Holocaust Remembrance Department came together for a meaningful visit with Barcelona’s Jewish day school, “Colegio Hatikva” as a part of the school’s “Maccabiah Games,” which are taking place ahead of Maccabi’s Euroleague game against Barcelona.

Participating in the dialogue with the Center’s chairman, Robert Singer, was Metropolitan Ignatios of Dimitras, president of the committee, Metropolitan Ioannis of Thermopyle, committee member, and Archimandrite Ignatios, committee secretary, as well as other officials.
We discussed the importance of interfaith relations between the Christian and Jewish religions and explored opportunities to build relations between our religious communities.

The One Team-One People projects continued today in Athens, Greece, led by the Center for Jewish Impact, Maccabi Tel Aviv and the World Zionist Organization. Today, Tuesday, an official wreath-laying ceremony took place at the National Holocaust Memorial in Athens, a memorial that commemorates the thousands of Jews that were murdered during the Holocaust.

The Center For Jewish Impact has been working tirelessly to help the Ukrainian refugees who have fled abroad, in a desperate attempt to find shelter. Last week the Center kicked into high gear. Along with the humanitarian assistance the Centre provided, the Center's Chairman and its Senior executive flew to Romania for an urgent visit where they met with the heads of the Jewish community, JDC, Nativ and representatives of the Romanian government to get an assessment of the refugee situation.

Today, the Center for Jewish Impact in partnership with SASA Setton, Maccabi Tel Aviv Basketball Club and EL AL worked together to produce hundreds of boxes of vital goods, consumer products and basketballs. These will be provided to mothers and their children who are based across the refugees' centers, that have fled their home country of Ukraine as it has become engulfed in conflict, fleeing with frighteningly little to Bucharest and other cities throughout Romania.

On the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the establishment of the official diplomatic relations between Israel and Serbia and the 45th anniversary of Maccabi Tel Aviv's first victory in the European Cup, a series of events were held in Belgrade as part of the “One Team – One People” Project to strengthen the ties between Israel and Serbian Jewry, and to stand together against antisemitism through the unifying power of basketball.

This morning in Berlin, as part of the One Team - One People project, the Center for Jewish Impact stood united with Maccabi Tel Aviv Basketball, the World Zionist Organization and the Israeli embassy in Germany against antisemitism, and supported Maccabi Tel Aviv as they adopted the IHRA's working definition of antisemitism, and invited other sports clubs to join the important act. The event was followed by an emotional ceremony at the main Holocaust memorial.
