Publication of the book: "The Righteous Among The Nations in Ukraine"

Almost 80 years have passed since the Babyn Yar massacre, where Nazis murdered over 33,771 Jews. The massacre continued until 1943 with roughly 150,000 dead, most of whom had been Jews.

In commemoration of this devastating tragedy, and on the occasion of Yom HaShoah, we are pleased to support the Jewish Confederation of Ukraine and the Memorial Center for Holocaust “Babyn Yar”, under the support of Yad Vashem, for the publication of the book “The Righteous Among the Nations in Ukraine."

During the Holocaust, while there were a significant number of Ukrainians that collaborated with the Nazis in the mass killing of the Jews, according to Yad Vashem, there were 2,659 Righteous Among the Nations who risked their lives and saved Jews in Ukraine. The book will entail many of their stories, photos and testimonies of heroism and courage.

While it is key to remember the past, we are encouraged by the leadership role that the Government of Ukraine is taking today to fight bigotry and anti-Semitism, and to ensure that the atrocities of the past will never occur again.

Our Chairman, Robert Singer, was proud to represent the Jewish people worldwide at the 75th anniversary of the commemoration of the Babyn Yar Massacre organized by the presidency of Ukraine.
