1000 Chanukah Candles of Remembrance Campaign

"1000 Chanukah Candles of Remembrance" is a global campaign initiated by Ambassador Dan Oryan, that calls people from all across the world to light the menorah during Chanukah, December 10-17, 2020, in dedication to the memory of North Macedonia Jewry, which was almost completely destroyed during the Holocaust.

From a prosperous and joyful community of 8,000 members on the eve of World War II, only 2% survived. It is our mission to share their stories and to remember them, now, and always.

The Center for Jewish Impact led the campaign by creating a designated website and producing the official video of the campaign.

In addition, we brought key partners to support the campaign, such as Maccabi Playtika Tel Aviv, the Combat Anti-Semitism Movement, World ORT and many more other significant partners.

in emotional lighting in cooperation with the remarkable organization Alumot Or, which promotes excellence in Special Education, the students of the special education school Benjamin Rothman Magshimim, participated in the campaign with the school's wonderful choir. Also participating in the event were Israel's Ambassador to North Macedonia, Dan Oryan, and the Counselor and Charge de'affairs of North Macedonia in Israel, Aleksander Abramovski.
