Candid Conversation with Sven Koopmans, EU Special Representative for the Middle East Peace Process

The Center for Jewish Impact and the Ximus Forum are honored to host Sven Koopmans, the EU Special Representative for the Middle East Peace Process. As part of his duties, the EU Special Representative travels throughout Israel, Gaza and the West Bank so to best understand all facets of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. To assist in his mandate, and to have a better understanding of the Israeli perspective, the Center for Jewish Impact has initiated, along with the Ximus Forum (a network of leading businessmen and young CEOs in Israel), a direct dialogue with up and coming, leading members of Israel's business community, so as to best convey the Israeli public's perception of the ongoing conflict.

This is slated to be first in a series of exclusive meetings that the Center for Jewish Impact will hold in Israel with the hope to bring the EU and Israel closer together so to best build a better future in the Middle East.

Sven Koopmans, the EU Special Representative for the Middle East Peace Process: "We can’t afford to have this conflict go on. We can’t afford to have all these people in the West Bank not to have any prospect of traveling. We can't afford to have Israel be criticized around the world for everything disproportionately because of the conflict. We can’t have antisemitism at the EU [Europe], and the EU just adopted a huge antisemitism program two days ago to combat antisemitism because it is a real problem, and I see this also in Amsterdam. We can't have antisemitism being fueled and sometimes justified because of the intolerable continuation of the conflict."
